born 1953 in Vienna

received his M.A. in Statistics from Vienna University in 1976. He then joined the Institute for socio-economic development research of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. His research interests varied from demography and educational planning, to economic modelling and technology assessment studies. In 1990 he received his Dr.rer.soc.oec. with a dissertation on educational planning and forecasting from Vienna University.

He moved to the Oesterreichische Nationalbank in 1992. There is currently in charge of Foreign Direct Investment statistics as senior expert in the Balance of payments division.
