Personen, die sich in einer Berufsausbildung befinden. Lehrling war früher die übliche Bezeichnung, seit dem Berufsbildungsgesetz wird nur noch von Auszubildenden mit unterschiedlichen Ausbildungszeiten gesprochen. (Lehrlinge, Berufsschüler u.s.w. werden nun unter diesem einen Begriff zusammengefaßt)

Definition 1
A young employee who signs a contract (an indenture or articles of apprenticeship) agreeing to be trained in a particular skill for a set amount of time by a specific employer. During this time the wages will be relatively low but on completion of the apprenticeship they increase to reflect the increased status of the employee and to recognize the skills acquired. In contrast, trainees in formal apprenticeship programs receive indepth instruction in all phases of insulation. Apprenticeship programs may be provided by a joint committee of local insulation contractors and the local union of the International Association of Heat and Frost Insulators and Asbestos Workers, to which many insulation workers belong. Programs normally consist of 4 years of on-the-job training coupled with classroom instruction, and trainees must pass practical and written tests to demonstrate knowledge of the trade.
