12) According to the banknote allocation key laid down in the accounting regime of the Eurosystem for banknotes in circulation, a share of 8% of the total value of euro banknotes in circulation is allocated to the ECB. The counterpart entry consists of an intra-Eurosystem liability. The remaining 92% of the value of euro banknotes in circulation are allocated to the NCBs of the Eurosystem on a monthly basis in proportion to the respective NCB's share in the subscribed capital key.
