Austrian Direct Investment Abroad
Notes:
This table shows transactions between Austrian direct investors and their direct investment enterprises abroad within a certain period of time. It quotes the total net value of all investments and disinvestments (outward direct investment – DI).
The outward direct investment position including SPEs and real estate minus the net investments of special purpose entities (foreign controlled subholdings without significant economic activity in Austria) and the net investments in real estate abroad yield the outward direct investment position excluding SPEs and real estate.
The direct investment position excluding SPEs and real estate is in turn broken down into the increase/decrease of equity capital, reinvested earnings and changes in “other capital” (mostly intracompany loans).
The regional breakdown indicates the country in which the immediate investment target is domiciled. A minus (-) indicates net investment abroad, i.e. capital outflows; a plus (+) results from a decrease in outward DI and thus indicates capital inflows.
