Foreign Direct Investment in Austria

Notes:

This table shows transactions between foreign direct investors and their direct investment enterprises in Austria within a certain period of time. It quotes the total net value of all investments and disinvestments (inward direct investment – DI).

The inward direct investment position including SPEs and real estate minus the net investments in special purpose entities (foreign controlled subholdings without significant economic activity in Austria) and the net investments in real estate in Austria yield the inward direct investment position excluding SPEs and real estate.

The direct investment position excluding SPEs and real estate is in turn broken down into the increase/decrease of equity capital, reinvested earnings and changes in “other capital” (mostly intracompany loans).

The regional breakdown indicates the country in which the immediate investor is domiciled. A plus (+) indicates net investment in Austria, i.e. capital inflows; a minus (-) results from a decrease in inward DI and thus indicates capital outflows.
