Notes:

This table shows year-end stocks of foreign direct investments (FDI) made by Austrian investors, broken down by target countries. Outward  FDI stocks reflect equity capital and “other capital“ (largely intra-company loans). In contrast to the international investment position, this table does not include real estate owned by Austrians abroad.

Legal basis for compilation: Austria: Article 44 Nationalbank Act, Exchange Control Act 2004.

International: SDDS and Articles of Agreements of the IMF, ECB guideline, Regulation (EC) No 184/2005 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 12 January 2005 on Community statistics concerning balance of payments, international trade in services and foreign direct investment. 

Legal basis for data collection: Article 44 Nationalbank Act, Exchange Control Act 2004.

Methodology:

Special survey of companies and individuals: annual information.

Reporting institutions:

Banks, companies, individuals.
