Austria’s International Investment Position – Country Classification
Notes:
This table shows the financial assets held by Austrians abroad and by nonresidents in Austria. The structure and scope of the International Investment Position (IIP), which is compiled on December 31 of each reporting year, is essentially in accordance with the 5th edition (1993) of the IMF’s Balance of Payments Manual (BPM5).
The stocks are valued at year-end market prices.
The external assets and liabilities are presented (a) in total and (b) in a breakdown by direct investment, portfolio investment, other investment, financial derivatives and reserve assets. The above-mentioned aggregates each comprise assets, liabilities and the resulting balance (net investment position).
A net investment position with a positive sign indicates that Austria is a net creditor. A net investment position with a negative sign indicates that Austria is a net debtor.
