Service Trade Structure

The OeNB compiles data on Austria’s international service trade (excluding tourism) by conducting a company survey in close cooperation with Statistics Austria. The data are used to draw up the balance of payments.

Service trade comprises an array of service categories, including freight and passenger transport, royalties and license fees, computer and information services, construction services as well as various business and management consulting services. A distinction is made between revenues (exports) and expenses (imports).

The data on the structure of trade in services reflect the results of the company survey (excluding gap estimates made for the balance of payments) and are complemented with information from other sources of company-level data (structural business statistics, the company register, the OeNB’s company database and foreign trade statistics).

The tables for 2006 and 2007 are currently under revision and will be published as time series.
