This part of the archives consists primarily of a collection of patents, decrees, statutes and bylaws, staff rules or similar documents pertaining to the Austrian central bank. This collection dates back to the beginning of the bank’s existence, but does not claim to be exhaustive.
The archives are particularly fortunate to hold almost all staff records (“Lebensbücher”) of the OeNB’s forerunners, the privilegierte oesterreichische Nationalbank and the Oesterreichisch-ungarische Bank, covering the period 1818–1915. These record contain information on all staff employed in this period (civil servants, clerks, typists and workers), for instance employment start date, key personal information, position, salary increments, promotions, salaries or wages and employment end date.
More recent staff data are archived by the Personnel Division and can only be disclosed in compliance with data protection provisions.
