This is the first exhibition in Austria that examines the manifold functions of gold bars as means of payment, monetary standard and store of value. It traces the various stages of gold bar production – mining, casting, minting – and highlights the significance of gold in international money transactions. In addition, the exhibition presents methods to test the authenticity of gold and showcases fake gold bars.
