From the Schilling to the Euro

The Austrian schilling became history upon the introduction of euro cash. The schilling was first introduced as Austria’s currency in 1925 and became part of Austria’s identity for decades.

The exhibition shows how closely a currency’s fate is linked to a country’s social, political, economic and cultural development.
