comment This item refers to assets of the OeNB (end-of-period stocks) characterized as follows: they are under the control of the monetary authority, highly liquid, marketable and accepted as an international currency. In particular, they are assets denominated in foreign currency (other than EUR) vis-à-vis debtors domiciled outside the euro area. Examples are securities, credit balances and loans. Besides, this item also includes gold and special drawing rights (IMF) as well as the reserve position in the Fund. Marking to market is applied. By definition, reserve assets only consist in assets and thus represent net assets.
