TARGET closing days and reserve maintenance periods

The ECB has defined holidays as TARGET closing days and has determined on which Austrian bank holidays TARGET2 operates. Transactions are handled by the OeNB’s Treasury Department and Payment Systems Division.

TARGET closing days in 2022

The TARGET2 system is closed on Saturdays and Sundays and on the following holidays in 2022:

  • January 1 – New Year’s Day (Saturday)
  • April 15 – Good Friday
  • April 18 – Easter Monday
  • May 1 – Labor Day (Sunday)
  • December 25 – Christmas Day (Sunday)
  • December 26 – St. Stephen's Day

The OeNB’s Treasury Department and Payment Systems Division will handle TARGET2 transactions on the following bank holidays in 2022:

  • January 6 – Epiphany Day
  • May 26 – Ascension Day
  • June 06 – White Monday
  • June 16 – Corpus Christi Day
  • August 15 – Assumption Day
  • October 26 – National Day
  • November 1 – All Saints' Day
  • December 8 – Immaculate Conception

TARGET closing days in 2023

The TARGET2 system is closed on Saturdays and Sundays and on the following holidays in 2023:

  • April 7 – Good Friday
  • April 10 – Easter Monday
  • May 1 – Labor Day
  • December 25 – Christmas Day
  • December 26 – St. Stephen's Day

The OeNB’s Treasury Department and Payment Systems Division will handle TARGET2 transactions on the following bank holidays in 2022:

  • January 6 – Epiphany Day
  • May 18 – Ascension Day
  • May 29 – White Monday
  • June 8 – Corpus Christi Day
  • August 15 – Assumption Day
  • October 26 – National Day
  • November 1 – All Saints' Day
  • December 8 – Immaculate Conception
