comment This item reflects OeNB investments in the form of foreign currency, demand and sight deposits classified under reserve assets. They represent claims on debtors from non-euro area countries which are not denominated in euro. A special case are claims on repurchase agreements and claims on the IMF arising from special credit facilities (Poverty Reduction and Growth Facility, Enhanced Structural Adjustment Facility). Transactions are valued at market prices. Balance of payments (flow): Positive balance: capital outflow/export. Negative balance: capital inflow/import. Net changes in stocks regarding the international investment position (IIP) might be caused by transactions, valuation effects (price- and exchange rate effects) and reclassifications. By definition, reserve assets only consist in assets and thus represent net assets.
