comment Official reserve assets comprise monetary authority claims (outstanding) at the end of the reporting period that have the following characteristics: They are subject to the control of the monetary authority, highly liquid, tradable and accepted as international currencies. In particular, these claims consist of claims denominated in currencies other than euro against debtors headquartered outside the euro area (e.g. securities, current account holdings and loans). Moreover, this category includes the reserve position in the IMF, Special Drawing Rights (IMF) and gold. Valuation is at market prices. By definition, official reserve assets consist only of claims.
