| breaks | With effect from August 1, 2006, Zimbabwes central bank redenominated the Zimbabwe dollar (ZWD) by removing the last three zeroes. At the same time, it adjusted the interbank exchange rate to 250 ZWD = 1 USD, which amounts to a devaluation by 59.4%. With effect from September 7, 2007, Zimbabwes central bank adjusted the interbank exchange rate to 30.000 ZWD = 1 USD. According to reports by “The Sunday Mail”, a state-controlled Zimbabwean paper, the use of the Zimbabwe dollar has been officially suspended for one year. |
