The Oesterreichische Nationalbank (OeNB) is the central bank of the Republic of Austria, as such, an integral part of the European System of Central Banks (ESCB). The OeNB’s legal terms are governed by the Treaty on the Functioning of European Union, the Statute of the European System of Central Banks and the European Central Bank, the Federal Act on the Oesterreichische Nationalbank (Nationalbankgesetz) 1984 and other federal legislation. The OeNB is a stock corporation with a statutory capital of EUR 12 million, and the federal government is its sole shareholder.
Responsibility for managing the OeNB’s activities and operations lies with the Governing Board. All non-ESCB-related activities are subject to supervision by the OeNB’s General Council.

1.4 Website policy
The OeNB’s website serves as a tool to inform the public about the OeNB’s tasks and activities, and to convey content on the wide range of matters related to the OeNB’s activities.
1.5 Requests and applications
Requests and applications may be submitted via mail, fax, e-mail to posteingang@oenb.at, in person during business hours (OeNB mailroom, 1090 Vienna, Rotenhausgasse 4) or digitally using authorised services, to be deemed submitted in line with the 1991 General Administrative Procedures Act (Allgemeines Verwaltungsverfahrensgesetz).
5. Social media etiquette
The Oesterreichische Nationalbank (OeNB) welcomes an enriching and constructive dialogue with the public on our social media channels. We encourage posts, questions, comments and discussions related to our content. To ensure respectful and polite interaction, we do ask users to bear in mind the social media etiquette rules detailed below.
Please be informed that we will delete individual posts if they are in violation of our etiquette rules. We also reserve the right to block users temporarily or permanently if they repeatedly infringe these rules.
- On our social media channels, we will neither tolerate disrespectful, insulting or abusive language nor any false or misleading information, unsubstantiated claims, accusations or unfounded allegations.
- We will not tolerate any discrimination against individuals or groups on the basis of their origin, nationality, religious affiliation, sexual identity, gender or age or any defamation on similar grounds.
- We will delete any pornographic, criminal, defamatory or misleading content as well as any posts that glorify violence.
- We ask that users refrain from posting advertising or commercial messages. We will delete any such posts as well as any messages recognised as spam.
- Please respect copyright, intellectual property rights and data protection law. When posting third-party content, please give full copyright information and source reference or link to the website of origin. Please make sure to respect personality rights and people’s right to their own image and take care not to disclose any sensitive personal data.

Information on the protection of personal data
Personal data are personal details or other information about identified or identifiable individuals, including data about their internet surfing and communication activities. Anonymous data, i.e. information which cannot be linked to the identity of an individual (not even via a specific identification number such as an IP address), are not considered personal data (e.g. information on most frequently visited websites or the number of visitors to a website). The OeNB processes personal data in line with the provisions laid down in the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Austrian Data Protection Act (DSG).

The OeNB takes all necessary technical and organisational security measures to protect your personal data against loss and misuse. Your data will be processed in a secure, state-of-the-art operating environment. The OeNB’s IT infrastructure is certified under the international ISO 9001 and 27001 standards.

Access to the OeNB’s websites is secured via HTTPS. This means that communication between your browser and the OeNB’s servers is encrypted. If you wish to contact the OeNB or its employees by e-mail, please note that, given the technical configuration of e-mail protocols, the confidentiality of e-mail information cannot be guaranteed. The content of unencrypted e-mails can be viewed by third parties unless special security measures are taken. We therefore recommend transmitting confidential information exclusively by e-mail to posteingang@oenb.at.
Right to object
According Article 21 GDPR, you have the right to object, on grounds relating to your particular situation, at any time to the processing of your personal data carried out by the OeNB on the basis of its legal mandate, as laid down in the Federal Act on the Oesterreichische Nationalbank (Nationalbank Act; Article 6 para 1 lit e GDPR), or for the purposes of its legitimate interests (Article 6 para 1 lit f GDPR).
