Bank Lending Survey

To enhance knowledge about financing conditions for businesses and households, the euro area national central banks – and thus the OeNB in Austria – together with the European Central Bank (ECB) began to conduct the quarterly euro area bank lending survey in January 2003. The questionnaire contains 18 questions about past and expected future changes in lending to enterprises and households. The questions relate to credit standards as well as the conditions and terms for loans to enterprises and households. If required, further ad hoc questions on topics of special interest are added. The survey goes out to some 140 banks in all euro area countries, 8 of which are Austrian banks.
