Bank Lending Survey

The bank lending survey is a quarterly survey conducted by the national central banks of the euro area, including the OeNB, together with the European Central Bank (ECB) since 2003 to gather information on financing conditions for enterprises and households. The questionnaire contains 22 standard questions about past and expected developments in bank lending that relate to banks’ lending policies and to enterprises’ and households’ demand for loans. If required, ad hoc questions on topics of special interest are added to the questionnaire. The survey goes out to some 160 banks in all euro area countries, 8 of which are Austrian banks.
