Reporting to the OeNB

Compiling and processing financial data to produce and provide a range of primary statistics is among the statutory obligations of the Oesterreichische Nationalbank. These activities and the resulting products are governed by numerous legislative acts and standards, such as the Nationalbank Act, the Banking Act and the Foreign Exchange Act at the national level. Relevant statutory provisions at the European level include two major regulations (on the collection of statistical information by the European Central Bank (ECB), and on prudential requirements for credit institutions and investment firms – i.e. the Capital Requirements Regulation), technical standards released by the European Banking Authority (EBA), and ECB regulations and guidelines. At the global level, data dissemination agreements require the OeNB to provide data to international institutions, such as the IMF and the OECD.

With this website, the OeNB aims to keep reporting agents informed about the purposes for which data need to be reported, what deadlines apply and in which formats the data need to be transmitted. The OeNB’s digital service is meant to help reporting agents identify what legal provisions they need to comply with and which details actually need to be reported. Other features include links to the relevant reporting provisions, data transfer information and a news section in which the OeNB provides regular updates. For any reports you may be required to submit, you will find the basics in the central reporting overview (available in German). This overview includes hyperlinks to the corresponding reporting requirements, a list of contact persons, guidance on the range of data interfaces and details on master data for the compilation and validation processes. Moreover, the overview contains the schedule of reporting dates and an outline of the data processing components.
