TARGET closing days and reserve maintenance periods
The ECB has defined holidays as TARGET closing days and has determined on which Austrian bank holidays TARGET2 operates. Transactions are handled by the OeNB’s Treasury Department and Payment Systems Division.
TARGET closing days in 2024
The TARGET2 system is closed on Saturdays* and Sundays and on the following holidays in 2024:
- January 1 – New Year's Day
- March 29 – Good Friday
- April 1 – Easter Monday
- May 1 – Labor Day
- December 25 – Christmas Day
- December 26 – St. Stephen's Day
The OeNB’s Treasury Department and Payment Systems Division will handle TARGET2 transactions on the following bank holidays in 2024:
- January 6 – Epiphany Day (*Saturday)
- May 9 – Ascension Day
- May 20 – White Monday
- May 30 – Corpus Christi Day
- August 15 – Assumption Day
- October 26 – National Day
- November 1 – All Saints' Day
