The role of KfW for the transformation to a digital and green economy

With Fritzi Köhler-Geib, KfW Chief Economist
Russia’s war of aggression on Ukraine and the Covid 19-pandemic have shaken the rules-based global world order and economy to its foundations. For Germany as an export-oriented economy, this renders the transformation to a green and digital economy even more urgent while at the same time increasing the challenges on the way. As one of the largest economies on the continent, the case of the German economy illustrates the impact of the current shocks and their effect on the economic outlook and transformation. What would it take to transform the economy, what are success factors and what role can a development bank such as KfW play in it?
