Household financial vulnerabilities in CESEE: what impact has COVID-19 had and how to best measure the changes?

Households across the globe have suffered from earnings reductions in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, some households have been hit harder than others, with big variations between countries. This workshop will provide an overview of these heterogeneities and explore to what extent pre-existing vulnerabilities have been exacerbated or new vulnerabilities have materialized – due to the nature of lockdowns, the industries most affected and development of the pandemic itself. The workshop will primarily draw on survey data and discuss the strengths and limitations of these data in analyzing the impact of the pandemic. It will also provide insights into how combining survey data with other microdata can help overcome limitations.
