Schumpeter Lecture 2025
The New Economics of Industrial PolicyDiesen Termin in meinem Kalender speichern
The Schumpeter Society cordially invites you to the Schumpeter Lecture 2025 to be delivered by Reka Juhasz (University of British Columbia, Canada).
Professor Juhasz has significantly contributed to the recent revival of research and the international discussion on industrial policy. In this lecture she will, in a first part, discuss what modern industrial policy entails and what the economic rationale for industrial policy is. In the second part of the talk she will cover what the new empirical literature has to say about the efficacy of industrial policy. The third part of the talk touches on where new research on industrial policy is headed, highlighting work on how to constructively confront the very real political economy challenges to implementation, and how industrial policy might evolve in the new geo-political context and be consistent with a rules-based trading system.
Professor Juhasz is a co-founder of The Industrial Policy Group and a 2025 DG Grow Fellow at the European Commission. She was recently awarded the 2025 Bank of Canada Governor's Award.
